Monetary gifts

YWCA Central Virginia is a registered 501(c)3 organization (EIN: 54-0506490) with a four-star Charity Navigator rating, as well as a gold seal of approval from Guidestar.

For online donations, you can select your preferred frequency of donation (one-time, monthly, annually). Thank you for giving what you can! Your support in any form or amount is integral to helping advance our mission.

Item Donations

YWCA Central Virginia is thankful for all of the donations that we receive. Items can be dropped off or mailed to at our Town Center location at 626 Church Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504.


YWCA Central Virginia is always in need of the following items:

  • Sports bras of all sizes (GENTLY used is okay)

  • Leggings of all sizes (GENTLY used is okay)

  • NEW underwear of all sizes (NEW ONLY)

  • Children’s clothing of all sizes (GENTLY used is okay)

  • Gift cards

  • Bus passes

  • Cleaning supplies

  • NEW personal hygiene items (deodorant, soap, combs, hair care products for all hair types)

  • Laundry detergent

  • Toilet paper

  • Paper towels

  • Nonperishable food items

  • Batteries

  • Housewares (pots, pans, dishes, etc. in good condition)

  • Appliances (will only accept WORKING appliances)

What Constitutes Gently Used Clothing Donations?

We strive to provide quality items for those in need. When donating clothing, please ensure that things are gently used, meaning:

  • No holes

  • No discoloration

  • No snags

  • No major piling

Remember, the individuals receiving these donations are deserving of quality items. Your thoughtful consideration helps us maintain the dignity and well-being of those we support. Thank you for your generosity and understanding.

YWCA Central Virginia is currently NOT accepting the following items:

  • Used shirts

  • Used pants/jeans

  • Used coats

  • Used formal wear

  • Used dresses

  • Used shoes

  • Children’s toys

  • and ANY other used clothing besides leggings and sports bras


YWCA Central Virginia will NOT accept the following items:

  • Used underwear

  • Excessively damaged houseware items (pots, pans, dishes)

  • Clothing with any holes, snags, discoloration, or major piling

  • Blankets, towels, sheets or comforters with any holes or discoloration
